Przy pierwszym, nieco mrożącym kawałku Here in the Hole, słychać typowego, filmowego Adamsa- Lost Highway czyli Zagubiona Autostrada się kłania. Drugi numer wywraca wszystko do góry nogami. The Long Way Back Again to czysty folk/rock. Jak zwykle jednak podskórnie mroczny i niepokojący. Niby prosta piosenka jak Prosta Historia ale mimo wszystko głęboko poruszająca. Nastepny numer: Oficer& wraz ze swoim pojechanym 10-minutowym prog-rockowym wstępem, ostatecznie udowadnia, że Adamson stał się wirtuozem w swej sztuce, dotarcia muzyką do naszej psychiki tak mocno jak filmem. Nie bez powodu zresztą tyle tu tytułów filmowych- Barry pisze dużo muzyki do filmów, min. Właśnie Dawida Lynch. Kolejne utwory Who killed big bird?, Theresa Green i reszta z Stranger przechodzą od głębokiego- ciemnego, do jazzującego, właśnie kinowego terytorium - oscylując wokół klimatów bardzo dobrze znanym fanom Adamsona. Intuicja Barry ego nie zawiodła go, od czasów Moss Side Story z 1988. Przy nowej płycie również wiedział jak pobudzić głębokie emocje słuchaczy. Krytyka została zmuszona do milczenia. Album kończy Free Love które jest konkluzją, mieszanką eksperymentalnej elektroniki i jazz-u otwierającą nową drogę artystyczną Barry ego Adamsona. A few b-sides are also included. Indeed two of these ("Peyote Radio Theatre" and "So Real") were promotional-only releases that weren't commercially available. The others were rare imports: "Last Goodbye" came out in Japan, Live From the Bataclan in France, and The Grace EP in Australia.Jeff Buckley toured the globe extensively, performing countless shows in support of his music.The Grace EPs capture some of the majesty of his stage presence. So what of the music contained here? First of all this is no skimpy collection - adding up to more than two hours even though there are just three to five songs on each disc. After the show, in a state of awe, Warren Ellis crept onto the stage, took Dr Simone's piece of chewed gum from the piano, wrapped it in her stage towel and put it in a Tower Records bag.The gum remained with him for twenty years; a sacred totem, his creative muse, growing in significance with every passing year. In 2019, Cave - his collaborator and great friend - asked Warren if there was anything he could contribute to display in his Stranger Than Kindness exhibition. Warren realised the time had come to release the gum.Together they agreed it should be housed in a glass case like a holy relic. Worrying the gum would be damaged or lost, Warren decided to first have it cast in silver and gold, sparking a chain of events that no one could have predicted, one that would take him back to his childhood and his relationship to found objects. Nina Simone's Gum is about how something so small can form beautiful connections between people.It is a story about the meaning we place on things, on experiences, and how they become imbued with spirituality.
