Prezentowana w Galerii Miejskiej Arsenał w Poznaniu wystawa Dominika Lejmana "Płot" została przygotowana we współpracy z kuratorem Markiem Bartelikiem jako propozycja dla polskiego pawilonu na 57. Biennale Sztuki w Wenecji. Projekt nie został przyjęty przez jury kwalifikujące prace polskich artystów, jednakże ten brak akceptacji, niedopasowanie do koncepcji, marginalizacja i odrzucenie stworzyły dodatkową interesującą siatkę odniesień. Instalacja ta dotyczy bowiem problemu selekcji, ograniczenia dostępu i zabezpieczenia przed niepożądanym gościem. "Płot" to projekt, który łączy w sobie intrygującą minimalistyczną formę estetyczną z niezwykle aktualną refleksją dotyczącą kondycji naszej współczesnej geo- i biopolityki. Dominik Lejman w subtelny i precyzyjny sposób identyfikuje podświadome lęki mieszkańców Europy, a być może przede wszystkim Polski. Nieprzypadkowo artysta podkreśla słowiańskie konotacje tytułu swojej pracy. Słowo "płot" wywodzi się od słowa "plątać", gdyż pierwsze płoty, tworzone były z gałęzi przewijanych poziomo między palikami i służyły do grodzenia pastwisk. W odróżnieniu od muru jest to przeszkoda transparentna, która nie dopuszcza do przekroczenia granicznej linii pozwalając jednocześnie na obserwację tego co jest po drugiej stronie. Marek Wasilewski Dominik Lejman?s exhibition, "Płot", presented at the Arsenał Municipal Gallery in Poznań, was prepared in cooperation with curator Marek Bartelik as a proposed entry for the Polish pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale. The project was not accepted by the jury that judged the works of Polish artists, but its non-qualification, conceptual unsuitability, marginalization and rejection have in fact created an additional, highly intriguing web of associations. The installation, after all, deals with the problem of selection, limited access and protection from uninvited guests. The "Płot" project joins together within itself a fascinating, minimalist aesthetic form and a remarkably relevant reflection on the state of contemporary geo- and biopolitics. Dominik Lejman identifies, in a subtle and precise way, the subconscious fears of Europe?s inhabitants, perhaps especially those dwelling in Poland. The artist has underscored the Slavic connotations of the Polish title of the work, "płot," which derives from the verb "plątać," meaning to weave: the first fences were created from branches woven horizontally between stakes and served to mark the boundaries of pastures. Unlike a wall, a "płot" is (or can be) a transparent barrier, one that bars us from crossing the boundary line while simultaneously allowing us to observe what lies on the other side.
