Fine Just the Way it is FOURTH ESTATE

Społeczno-obyczajowaOpowiadania i miniatury literackie

These are stories of desperation and hard times, often marked by an inescapable sadness, set in a landscape both brutal and maginificent. Enlivined by folk tales, flights of fancy and details of ranch and rural work, they juxtapose Wyoming's traditional character and attitudes - confrontation, prejudice, persistence in the face of difficulty - with the more benign values of the new west. Bold, elegant and memorable, these pieces once more confirm Annie Proulx as one of the most talented short story writes in the language.

Opis - Pierwsze na świecie świadectwo ofiary zbrodni honorowej. Miała siedemnaście lat i zakochała się: zhańbiła rodzinę. Więc rodzina wydała na nią wyrok śmierci... Pokochała go pierwszą miłością. A w jej świecie to najcięższa zbrodnia... Wyrok wydaje jej ojciec. Szwagier dokonuje egzekucji. Oblewa Souad benzyną i podpala... 'Only with the greatest of simplifications, for the sake of convenience, can we say Africa. In reality, except as a geographical term, Africa doesn't exist'. Ryszard Kapuscinski has been writing about the people of Africa throughout his career. In a study that avoids the official routes, palaces and big politics, he sets out to create an account of post-colonial Africa seen at once as a whole and as a location that wholly defies generalised explanations. It is both a sustained meditation on the mosaic of peoples and practises we call 'Africa', and an impassioned attempt to come to terms with humanity itself as it struggles to escape from foreign domination, from the intoxications of freedom, from war and from politics as theft. The Beginning: Collision, Ghana 1958 More than anything, one is struck by the light. Light everywhere. Brightness everywhere. Everywhere, the sun. Just yesterday, an autumnal London was drenched in rain. The airplane drenched in rain. A cold, wind, darkness. But here, from the morning

On nie upiększa zwykłego nadmorskiego krajobrazu czy kozackiego stepu, on go tylko uwzniośla. Adam Ziemianin Wojciech Górecki was born on 23 April 1959. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (the faculty of graphics and painting). He deals with painting (mainly plein-air), drawing, and workshop graphics. In 2009, the Art Renewal Center (USA) granted him a prestigious, honourable mention Award for his artistic work. He captures moments in a masterly way (") In my opinion, Wojciech Górecki does not look for miracles; he changes ordinary places and usual landscapes into miracles. Thanks to his brush, these places and landscapes become metaphysical worlds and phenomena. He does not beautify ordinary seaside landscapes or Cossack steppes; he only uplifts them, makes them more universal in some way. However, it will always be his steppe and his beach on the seaside. (") I even thought that if I had been able to paint like Wojciech does, perhaps I would not have written poems. Wojciech Górecki"s pictures are real painter"s poems without words but, nevertheless, and just perhaps that is why, they have so much to say. (") I should admit that the artist can capture moments in a masterly way and copy them into a great book of pictures which is a crucial component of art eternity album. This work will never get old or obsolete ("). Regarding his paintings, there is something strange, something intangible and mysterious. Each painting contains emotions which he experienced when creating it (?). Powieści i opowiadania

'When people ask me what I do for a crust and I tell them that I'm a novelist, they immediately assume that my life is a non-stop carousel of limos, television appearances, hair-dos, devoted fans, stalkers and all the glitzy paraphernalia of being a public figure. It's time to set the record straight. I write alone, in a darkened bedroom, wearing my PJs, eating bananas, my laptop on a pillow in front of me ...' Knotmonsters: Potted Plants edition: 12 Amigurumi Crochet Patterns Independently Published

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

12 crochet patterns included! If you have never crocheted before, NO PROBLEM. Everyone has to start somewhere. In this book, we will be going step by step through ten cute little amigurumi crochet patterns. Also included are basic stitch tutorials to help you along the way.Patterns for many different house plants:Succulent EcheveriaSansevieria (Snake Plant)Lucky BambooAloe VeraPalm TreeVenus Fly TrapTreeSucculent SedumBonsai TreeHanging Plants x 3What started as something to pass the time during quarantine has turned into so much more. These toys bring me joy when I make them and even more when I give them away. I hope that my creations will bring you and your lucky loved ones hours of happiness as well. When I first started, it took me a week just to figure out how to make a ball. It took even longer to get my fingers and hands used to holding a crochet hook. Crocheting can be frustrating at first but like with all things new, your body will develop muscle memory and over time, you will find that it will get easier. Always remember that nothing is hard, only new. There is no right way or wrong way to crochet. Whatever works for you, your body, and your ability is the right way. Crochet is an art form and like all art forms, is open to personal interpretation. Crochet patterns function as guidelines only, and I encourage you to bring your own artistic flair to each pattern. Do not be afraid to use different hooks or types of yarn. Experiment by changing the colors. Add accessories, modify the body shape, and bring your own individual spice to each pattern. Sometimes it will work; most of the time, it will not, and that is perfectly fine because in the end, you will end up with something that is yours. Something that you created. Your own little knotmonster.

Grandmaster Repertoire 4 - The English Opening vol. 2 by Mihail Marin (miękka okładka)

Szachy > Debiuty

Wersja językowa książki - angielska. Miękka okładka.   Grandmaster Repertoire  is a new series of high quality books based on the main lines, written by strong grandmasters. The aim is to provide the reader with a complete repertoire at a level good enough for elite tournaments, and certainly also for the club championship.Grandmaster Repertoire provides a repertoire to last a lifetime.Mihail Marin reveals his own white repertoire with 1.c4, the English Opening. In Volume Two, Marin covers all Black's replies to 1.c4 except 1...e5 and 1...c5. The theory is state-of-the-art with many novelties suggested, but most useful of all are Marin#8217;s lucid explanations of how to play the resulting positions. Hundreds of novelties A repertoire to last a lifetime Written by an award-winning author Mihail Marin  is a grandmaster from Romania. His previous books for Quality Chess have established him as one of the world's finest chess authors. Marin's recent tournament successes, using this repertoire, increased his rating to a personal best of 2616.978-1-906552-38-1 - 432 pages - Published 13 October 2010Reviews  "Mihail Marin's excellent repertoire books on the English Opening have helped to cement the reputation of Quality Chess' Grandmaster Repertoire series... Marin's deep experience and passion for the English Opening is clear throughout the book... If you've even the slightest inclination towards the English Opening, this trio of books is strongly recommended." GM Luke McShane , New in Chess "Marin infuses so many new key ideas that the lines once again can be used as a way of seeking an advantage for White... I loved Volume One in this series, and I find this work even more impressive. 4 Stars (out of 4)" Carsten Hansen , ChessCafe (full review) "One of the outstanding chess books of 2009 was volume one of Romanian Grandmaster Mihail Marin's trilogy on 1.c4... The second and third volumes in the series, recently released, maintain the same high standards... published on high quality paper with a clean, easy to read layout. They are available in both hardback and paperback editions with the former costing 8 Euros more. This might seem like an unnecessary luxury for an opening book that will eventually be outdated. However, if your budget allows and you intend to use these books a lot, it might be a wise investment. Will the difference in price be remembered after you have spent several hundred hours mastering this material?I give Marin's three volumes series on the English my highest recommendation." IM John Donaldson , (full review) "Beautifully written and inspirational" GM Luke McShane , New in Chess "It is a magnificent work, based on Marin's experience with the English Opening... Marin's vast knowledge of classic chess enriches the didactic value of the book." GM Zenon Franco Ocampos , Jaque "Perhaps the finest work on the English Opening that I have ever seen." Steve Giddins , British Chess Magazine "The Romanian GM has a well-earned reputation for writing great chess books, and these are no different... Marin does his best to keep White's solutions within the realm of the English, which is doubly commendable... As always in Marin's books, you'll find lots of prose, a clear sense that the man loves to teach, and a ton of original analysis... Marin aims to make chess players out of his readers, not efficient zombies! The hardback copies... are superb from a physical standpoint as well. The books are highly recommended." Dennis Monokroussos , The Chess Mind (full review) "Thick, beautifully-hardcover books... I'm sure some of my team members who are addicted to opening with their c-pawn will just love these books, but for me, looking at all these lines just makes me realize life's too short to try and understand all chess openings. But I sure marvelled at fragments such as this..." Arne Moll , ChessVibes (full review) "Volumes 2 3 are fine books with plenty of new ideas, enhanced by his very readable prose. These books are so well written that I think those new to The English Opening will find them just as useful as seasoned 1.c4 experts." Sean Marsh  (full review)

Audacity Bonnier Zaffre

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER from the star of Netflix's The Duchess, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Your Face or Mine and host of All That Glitters 'A fearless origin story' Caitlin Moran'Outrageously brilliant! I'm buying this for all my friends' Laura Whitmore'I've come to accept that being audacious is a gift I can't escape.' People 'know' my on-stage comedy persona or my scripted ballsy characters and wrongly assume that at home, I must stomp around all day in designer dresses eviscerating those who dare to cross my path and denouncing the existence of men in general. But mostly, I'm just sat eating pickles and being nice to some dogs. Whatever strangers think of me is fine with me. How audacious is that? I can always take a joke, I don't waste time worrying about things I can't control, and I have zero anxiety. I embrace the reality that you just can't please everyone, so you might as well put yourself out there and have a laugh. As my mother always said, 'Katherine, if we all liked the same thing, we'd all be married to your father'. I'm often asked how I developed my lurid level of courage and assurance and for tips on how others can match. The Audacity is my chance to share my blueprint for just that. You will learn:How to Become The Most Popular Girl in SchoolHow to Waste All Your Money on Designer DogsHow to Attract Toxic Men... AND Keep Them Interested! And so much more... Plus, secrets! Secrets are my favourite things to be told and I figured I'd better tell a few juicy ones myself. Why not? No matter what I do, there will always be something about me that reads as simply, outrageously audacious. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tulip Touch Penguin

Inne 1

'She's mad. There has to be something wrong with her. She's insane.' Nobody wants Tulip in their gang. She skives off school, cheeks the teachers, and makes herself unpopular with her classmates by telling the most awful lies. None of this matters to Natalie. Natalie finds Tulip exciting, and at first she doesn't care that other people are so upset and unnerved by Tulip's bizarre games like Stinking Mackerel and Road of Bones. It's funny to watch their reactions, and there's always the delicious fear that the two girls might be caught. But as the games become increasingly sinister and dangerous, Natalie realizes that Tulip is going too far. Much too far. Natalie could try to change things. But deep inside she knows that, once crossed, Tulip won't rest until she's won the most dangerous game of all. In this compelling story Anne Fine explores the dark side of a friendship bordering on obsession, and sensitively depicts one girl's gradual decline into hostility and violence. The Tulip Touch is a powerful novel, gripping and mesmerizing. It is truly a story that touches the heart - I couldn't put it down, I had to know what happened next to Tulip and Natalie! A real read, recommended for all young readers from the age of about nine. Jade You shouldn
