Opis - Pierwsze na świecie świadectwo ofiary zbrodni honorowej. Miała siedemnaście lat i zakochała się: zhańbiła rodzinę. Więc rodzina wydała na nią wyrok śmierci... Pokochała go pierwszą miłością. Myślała, że się z nią ożeni. Ale ukochany zniknął, a ona odkryła, że jest w ciąży. A w jej świecie to najcięższa zbrodnia... Wyrok wydaje jej ojciec. Szwagier dokonuje egzekucji. Oblewa Souad benzyną i podpala... Acceptance- and Mindfulness-Based Approaches to Anxiety Springer-Verlag New York Inc.

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

For many years, cognitive-behavioral techniques have been at the forefront of treatment for anxiety disorders. More recently, strategies rooted in Eastern concepts of acceptance and mindfulness have have demonstrated some promise in treating anxiety, especially in tandem with CBT. Now, with Acceptance-Based Behavioral Therapies for Anxiety, thirty expert clinicians and researchers present a comprehensive guide to integrating these powerful complementary approaches where they match, when they differ, and why they work so well together.§Chapter authors clearly place mindfulness and acceptance into the clinical lexicon, establishing links with established traditions, including emotion theory and experiential therapy. In addition, separate chapters discuss specific anxiety disorders, the current state of treatment for each, and practical ways of integrating acceptance and mindfulness approaches into therapy.§Book Reviews:§"Orsillo and Roemer are true scientist-practitioners with their broad and deep knowledge of cognitive behavioral concepts and their years of applying these concepts to relieve suffering from anxiety. In this book they take us to the cutting-edge of new psychological approaches to anxiety disorders. Every clinician will want to be aware of these latest advances." §-David H. Barlow, Ph.D.Director, Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston UniversityProfessor of PsychologyResearch Professor of Psychiatry.§"Few others could make the case for acceptance and mindfulness-based care of anxiety disorders as well as Orsillo and Roemer have done. Tacking deftly between innovation and empirical science this book shows how traditional anxiety treatments, supplemented by acceptance and mindfulness practices, can achieve an expanded scope of relevance and efficacy. Their careful operationalization and description of these practices along with a few caveats regarding this nascent union, enables the reader to navigate comfortably in novel territory. Ideal for therapists, researchers and students the material presented in this book will likely form the backbone of the next generation of treatment for complex anxiety disorders" §-Zindel V. Segal, Ph.D., C.Psych. Morgan Firestone Chair in Psychotherapy Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology University of Toronto. §"In their innovative work toward a more complete understanding of the etiology and treatment of anxiety disorders, and in their special concern for those patients who do not respond to existing treatments, Drs Roemer and Orsillo have led the field into new territory. In the past ten years, the integration of mindfulness-based approaches into existing psychological systems and therapies has been both informing and challenging for each side of the meeting. This timely book contains a useful summary of the many facets of this conversation, including the differing approaches to mindfulness and its use in clinical systems. It provides an excellent description of the development and progression of CBT approaches to the treatment of anxiety disorders and cogently presents the case for the natural progression of the integration of mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches into this field."§-James Carmody Ph.D.Director of Research, Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and SocietyAssistant Professor of MedicineDivision of Preventive & Behavioral MedicineUniversity of Massachusetts Medical School.§Among the book s highlights:§- A detailed conceptual framework for combining acceptance-based and cognitive-behavioral approaches §- Clinically valid definitions of acceptance and mindfulness, explaining their compatibility with more goal-driven and problem-solving therapies §- Demonstrations of three specific methods Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills training as used in treating clients with anxiety disorders. For many years, cognitive-behavioral techniques have been at the forefront of treatment for anxiety disorders. ADHD, Stress, and Development Springer International Publishing AG

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

This first-of-its-kind volume revisits current findings on ADHD in terms of classic thinking on developmental neuropsychology for a more rounded concept of brain disorganization. Insights from Freud, Janet, John Hughlings Jackson, and other pioneers help identify mechanisms (e.g., the primitive reflexes) that can cause children with ADHD to be prone to cognitive dissociation when exposed to stressful environments. The authors' model of the developing distracted brain pinpoints effects of stress on cognitive and affective functions, most notably attention and memory, and suggests situations in which stimuli may facilitate integration between brain and mind. This expanded knowledge opens out new educational possibilities for vulnerable students as well as new opportunities for therapeutic breakthroughs for children with ADHD.Included in the coverage:

Constitution for Europe - 2212829554

Constitution for Europe Cambridge University Press

Inne 1

There is much confusion over the 'Constitution', and this book provides an in-depth legal analysis of the institutional aspects of the Constitutional Treaty which, if ratified by the 25 EU Member States, would govern the European Union. Piris argues that, despite its ratification being rejected by the French and the Netherlands referenda in 2005, the Treaty should not be discarded, as it will inevitably be the point of departure for the future of European integration. He places this analysis in an historical and political context and explains the origin, meanings and legal and political effects of all proposed changes to the present treaties.

Euro Crash PALGRAVE MACMILLAN

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

Euro Crash turns the conventional diagnosis of the failure of the European Monetary Union on its head. It argues that the main problem was not sub-optimal currency areas nor profligate government spending but fatal flaws in monetary design and an appalling series of policy mistakes by the European Central Bank (ECB). Brendan Brown shows how the inflation-targeting regime established by the ECB right at the start, coupled with the reckless dismantling of the old Bundesbank's monetary framework, contributed decisively to the ensuing gross failures. Further factors in the fatal cocktail included long-term French monetary nationalism, empowered by a French President at the head of the ECB, and the succumbing of euro officials to the same deflation phobia which had gripped the Federal Reserve. In exploring these themes, Dr. Brown draws on both traditional monetarist and Austrian School economic literature. He demonstrates that the European Sovereign Debt Crisis is in fact the bust phase of a credit bubble which to a critical extent was manufactured in Frankfurt's Euro Tower. This new edition of Euro Crash has been fully updated, and the argument refined, to take advantage of recent facts and new insights. It includes a new introduction which sets the scene in light of the momentous events since the first edition was written. In the final chapter, Dr. Brown provides an examination of radical ways forward. He proposes that there is only one way which has any real prospect of salvaging European monetary integration - that is to start again. He plots a future which rejects a political, fiscal or transfer union in Europe and outlines an exit procedure for any member country from EMU which would be fully legal and feasible. This book should be of great interest to all those searching for explanations and prescriptions outside the box of conventional thinking and beyond the "passing the buck" remedies of euro-officials.

Doody's Book Review Service, Leonor David, MD, PhD -- "This is the fourth edition of a book that presents a comprehensive clinicopathologic overview of human disease. The book has an excellent balance of medical nomenclature, molecular basis of disease, clinical features, epidemiology, pathogenesis, and pathology... "The purpose is to give students in medical sciences the basic knowledge about pathology needed to understand and handle human diseases. The purpose is fully met through the book's careful and systematic approach that relates pathologic changes to clinical manifestations of disease... "The book covers general mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of human diseases, using well selected models of cell/molecular biology based information...It includes the classic organ approach and innovative chapters on diseases like diabetes and amyloidosis, that serve as examples to give readers more in-depth information about relevant diseases with a lot of new information from recent years. Drawings, diagrams, and images are of excellent quality. "This is an excellent book where students, researchers, and professionals in medical sciences will find 'pathology literacy,' as the editor puts it in the preface. The clinicopathologic approach used throughout and the excellent quality of figures and illustrations are major advantages of this book compared to others in the field."-Four-Star Review from Doody's Book Review Service (Weighted Numerical Score: 95) Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), 15-SEP-04, Volume 292, Issue 11, Syed A. Hoda, MD and Rana S. Hoda, MD -- "The three main challenges in writing a textbook about introductory general and systemic pathology are to inspire the physicians of the future, demonstrate relevance to modern medicine, and keep the covers of the book not too distant. The latest incarnation of Pathology, rechristened Rubin's Pathology: Clinicopathologic Foundations of Medicine, seems to have met each of these challenges with substantial success... "True to its subtitle, the book does not lose sight of the clinical context...The text is terse, illustrations are illuminating, diagrams are discriminating, and tables are tidy. Together these resources provide the necessary integration of information... "Emanuel Rubin, the editor-in-chief, eloquently expresses the raison d'etre of the book in its preface: '[L]iteracy in pathology is the bedrock of practice and research for the student of medical science.' The contents of this opus serve as a reminder to the physicians of tomorrow that ignorance of pathology will immensely imperil their understanding of the disease process."-Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Pathology Faculty, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine -- "The Rubin pictures are better and the text gets to the point quicker. It also has a more elaborate discussion on diseases, more examples too. An example of this would be in the area of cancers of the lung. In Rubin the discussion starts on pg. 646 and runs through pg 656. Robbins doesn't cover specific types of tumors of the lung, Rubin does. In Robbins the content starts on pg. 757 and goes through pg 765. The miscellaneous tumors are listed and that's all. Rubin first gives background on the tumor, then the pathology and then how the disease shows up clinically. Robbins is a good reference text that should be in a clinicians office but it's not as good as Rubin for the medical student. They need to know how the disease shows up clinically and then how to treat it. As he put it, the students in medical school are trying to become physicians not pathologists."
