Steels: Microstructure and Properties

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

Steels: Microstructure and Properties is an essential text and reference, providing indispensable foundational content for researchers, metallurgists, and engineers in industry and academia. The book provides inspiring content for undergraduates, yet has a depth that makes it useful to researchers. Steels represent the most used metallic materials, possessing a wide range of structures and properties. By examining the properties of steels in conjunction with structure, the book provides a valuable description of the development and behavior of these materials- the very foundation of their widespread use. The new edition has been thoroughly updated with 2 new chapters, expanded content throughout, and numerical Q+As at the end of each chapter, yet it retains its clear writing style, extensive bibliographies, and real-life examples. Revised edition features a new chapter on selection of steels, a new chapter on sustainable use of steels, expanded coverage of surface treatment of steels, crystallographic textures, metallurgical aspects of additive manufacturing of steels, and much more Includes derivations with important equations so that students from a broad range of subjects can appreciate the issues without being bogged down in mathematics Presents micrographs and figures that reflect the resolution and capabilities of modern instruments

MECHANIKA

The academic year 2004/2005 is a very special year in our Alma Mater because of its 100` anniversary and the 60th anniversary of Gdansk University of Technology as a Polish technical university including the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. For that reason the published book is a contribution to the celebration of the mentioned anniversaries. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was formed in 1992 as a result of uniting the Faculty of Machine Construction and the Faculty of Machine Technology. It is divided into 11 departments which actually cover the whole range of mechanical engineering reflected in the scope of the presented book. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has all academic rights. The Faculty Council is authorized to confer PhD and DSc degrees and may apply for the title of professor of technical sciences. In view of the above, a part of the topics presented in the book results from the scopes carried out within the DSc courses. Since 1996 the Faculty has been running a PhD course on "Contemporary Technologies and Energy Conversion". Some of the chapters of the presented book are based on the results of the completed PhD theses. The employees of the Faculty are involved in obtaining financial resources both domestic - from the Committee of Scientific Research, and European - within the 5th and 6th EU programme. The study of many problems presented in the book has been sponsored by the mentioned institutions. The present publication, apart from the documentation of the most important results of the research run by the Faculty over the recent years, is also intended for potential foreign partners in the new historic situation when Poland became a rightful member of the European Union.  Spis treści:   Preface Part I. MECHANICS, VIBRATION AND MACHINE DYNAMICS   Chapter 1. Modelling and computer programmes for dynamic analysis of complex mechanical systems, Edmund Wittbrodt  Chapter 2. Dynamics of power plant turbosets, Zbigniew Walczyk  Chapter 3. Mechatronic design for improving current performances of machines, Tomasz Kucharski  Chapter 4. Vibration surveillance of dynamic systems and production processes, Krzysztof Kalinski Part II. THERMOMECHANICAL PROCESSES   Chapter 5. Two dimensional inverse method of turbomachinery stage design, Romuald Puzyrewski  Chapter 6. Modelling, thermography and digital processing of energy conversion processes, Jan Stqsiek  Chapter 7. Nucleate pool boiling modelling and experimental investigation, Janusz T. Cieslinski  Chapter 8. Convective momentum and heat transfer in single and two-phase flows, Dariusz Mikielewicz Part III. MATERIALS AND SURFACE ENGINEERING   Chapter 9. The methods of fretting wear prevention in machine elements, Antoni Neyman  Chapter 10. Fatigue investigation of plain journal bearings, Jan Sikora  Chapter 11. Influence of heat transformations on microstructure and properties of some wrought aluminium alloys, Andrzej Zielinski  Chapter 12. Assessment of reformer tubes degradation during long term service at elevated temperatures, Jerzy Labanowski  Chapter 13. Laser surface treatment of aluminium alloys at cryogenic conditions, Waldemar Serbinski  Chapter 14. Explosive welding of metals, Wlodzimierz Walczak  Chapter 15. Development and importance of burnishing technology in computer integrated manufacturing, Wlodzimierz Przybylski  Chapter 16. Problems of flat surface lapping, Adam Barylski Part IV. DIAGNOSTICS AND OPERATION OF DRIVING SYSTEMS   Chapter 17. Size selection of main engines for ship diesel-electric power systems using random models, Andrzej Balcerski  Chapter 18. Tyre testing and development, Jerzy A. Ejsmont  Chapter 19. Physical and mathematical models of losses in hydraulic motors, Andrzej Balawender  Chapter 20.
