Reliable evaluation and property determination of modern-day advanced antennas Politechnika Wrocławska

ELEKTRO

Presently we are witnessing great efforts which aim at soaring the role of the antenna and relevant signal processing in the concepts of communication and radar systems. The interest in modern antenna technologies has been substantiated by the belief that the gains from new antenna concepts are likely to be most profitable, since well-organized spatial access to the radio channels competes successfully with many modern modulation and coding methods. Even though, techniques using space-time coding with multipathly propagating signals (e.g. MIMO) might need less focused radio wave transmission and reception, highly integrated antenna arrays are of great desire. These challenging tasks placed the antenna technique in the critical spot of the development of modern communication. Thus, the 'lagging behind' of the antenna designs exposes the launch of new systems to jeopardy.  In this monograph, we attempt to describe two evaluation methods developed in-house for the needs of the research on highly integrated lightweight antennas. With one of the methods it is possible to carry out simulations of highly integrated antennas made of composites or other dielectrics. The other method explores the near field of the antenna. The capabilities of both methods have been upgraded as compared to those described in the literature. In contrast to conventional measuring methods which provide overall data, it is expected that the considered evaluation methods will enable instant pointing of non-conforming elements. As in both methods use is made of indirect approach, comprehensive data processing or simulations must be performed in order to achieve interpretable results.    Spis treści: Preface    1. Handbook of Nature-Inspired Optimization Algorithms: The State of the Art Springer, Berlin

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

This book presents recent contributions and significant development, advanced issues, and challenges. In real-world problems and applications, most of the optimization problems involve different types of constraints. These problems are called constrained optimization problems (COPs). The optimization of the constrained optimization problems is considered a challenging task since the optimum solution(s) must be feasible. In their original design, evolutionary algorithms (EAs) are able to solve unconstrained optimization problems effectively. As a result, in the past decade, many researchers have developed a variety of constraint handling techniques, incorporated into (EAs) designs, to counter this deficiency. The main objective for this book is to make available a self-contained collection of modern research addressing the general constrained optimization problems in many real-world applications using nature-inspired optimization algorithms. This book is suitable for a graduate class on optimization, but will also be useful for interested senior students working on their research projects.

RTL Hardware Design Using VHDL - Coding for Efficiency, Portability, and Scalability John Wiley & Sons Inc

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

The skills and guidance needed to master RTL hardware design This book teaches readers how to systematically design efficient, portable, and scalable Register Transfer Level (RTL) digital circuits using the VHDL hardware description language and synthesis software. Focusing on the module-level design, which is composed of functional units, routing circuit, and storage, the book illustrates the relationship between the VHDL constructs and the underlying hardware components, and shows how to develop codes that faithfully reflect the module-level design and can be synthesized into efficient gate-level implementation.Several unique features distinguish the book: Coding style that shows a clear relationship between VHDL constructs and hardware components Conceptual diagrams that illustrate the realization of VHDL codes Emphasis on the code reuse Practical examples that demonstrate and reinforce design concepts, procedures, and techniques Two chapters on realizing sequential algorithms in hardware Two chapters on scalable and parameterized designs and coding One chapter covering the synchronization and interface between multiple clock domains Although the focus of the book is RTL synthesis, it also examines the synthesis task from the perspective of the overall development process. Readers learn good design practices and guidelines to ensure that an RTL design can accommodate future simulation, verification, and testing needs, and can be easily incorporated into a larger system or reused. Discussion is independent of technology and can be applied to both ASIC and FPGA devices. With a balanced presentation of fundamentals and practical examples, this is an excellent textbook for upper-level undergraduate or graduate courses in advanced digital logic.Engineers who need to make effective use of today's synthesis software and FPGA devices should also refer to this book.

Software Defined Radio using MATLAB & Simulink and the RTL-SDR Strathclyde Academic Media

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

The availability of the RTL-SDR device for less than $20 brings software defined radio (SDR) to the home and work desktops of EE students, professional engineers and the maker community. The RTL-SDR can be used to acquire and sample RF (radio frequency) signals transmitted in the frequency range 25MHz to 1.75GHz, and the MATLAB and Simulink environment can be used to develop receivers using first principles DSP (digital signal processing) algorithms. Signals that the RTL-SDR hardware can receive include: FM radio, UHF band signals, ISM signals, GSM, 3G and LTE mobile radio, GPS and satellite signals, and any that the reader can (legally) transmit of course! In this book we introduce readers to SDR methods by viewing and analysing downconverted RF signals in the time and frequency domains, and then provide extensive DSP enabled SDR design exercises which the reader can learn from. The hands-on SDR design examples begin with simple AM and FM receivers, and move on to the more challenging aspects of PHY layer DSP, where receive filter chains, real-time channelisers, and advanced concepts such as carrier synchronisers, digital PLL designs and QPSK timing and phase synchronisers are implemented. In the book we will also show how the RTL-SDR can be used with SDR transmitters to develop complete communication systems, capable of transmitting payloads such as simple text strings, images and audio across the lab desktop.

Introduction to Microwave Circuits John Wiley & Sons Inc

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

"Do you want to design a wireless transmitter or receiver for hand--held telephones? Have you wondered why the printed circuit wires on high--frequency circuits don't always run in a straight line? This valuable text will answer all of your questions regarding component parasitics and circuit characterization for rf/microwave amplifier, oscillator, and filter circuit design and analysis. You will understand why capacitors act as inductors and vice versa and why amplifiers work like oscillators, while oscillators for local area networks work more like local area heaters. Application of the information in Introduction to Microwave Circuits will reduce design--cycle time and costs, markedly increasing the probability of first--time success in printed circuit or monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) design. Several approaches are taken into consideration, such as the effects of currents on the ground plane, bypass and coupling capacitors, and nonlinear effects in linear circuits.Featured topics include: Incorporation of component parasitics in the design cycle Closed form solution to oscillator design Odd mode stability analysis PIN diode analysis for high--power switching applications An integrated design example of a 1.25 GHz amplifier, oscillator, and filter printed circuit is also included, which could be useful in printed circuit board designs from tens of megahertz to tens of gigahertz. Introduction to Microwave Circuits provides the tools necessary to analyze or synthesize microwave circuits.
