Praise for Service-Oriented Architecture Compass "A comprehensive roadmap to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). SOA is, in reality, a business architecture to be used by those enterprises intending to prosper in the 21st century. Decision makers who desire that their business become flexible can jumpstart that process by adopting the best practices and rules of thumb described in SOA Compass." -Bob Laird, MCI IT Chief Architect "The book Service-Oriented Architecture Compass shows very clearly by means of real projects how agile business processes can be implemented using Service-Oriented Architectures. The entire development cycle from planning through implementation is presented very close to practice and the critical success factors are presented very convincingly." -Professor Dr. Thomas Obermeier, Vice Dean of FHDW Bergisch Gladbach, Germany "This book is a major improvement in the field. It gives a clear view and all the key points on how to really face a SOA deployment in today's organizations." -Mario Moreno, IT Architect Leader, Generali France "Service-Oriented Architecture enables organizations to be agile and flexible enough to adopt new business strategies and produce new services to overcome the challenges created by business dynamism today. CIOs have to consider SOA as a foundation of their Enterprise Applications Architecture primarily because it demonstrates that IT aligns to business processes and also because it positions IT as a service enabler and maximizes previous investments on business applications. To understand and profit from SOA, this book provides CIOs with the necessary concepts and knowledge needed to understand and adapt it into their IT organizations." -Sabri Hamed Al-Azazi, CIO of Dubai Holding, Sabri "I am extremely impressed by the depth and scale of this book! The title is perfect-when you know where you want to go, you need a compass to guide you there! After good IT strategy leads you to SOA, this book is the perfect vehicle that will drive you from dream to reality. We in DSK Bank will use it as our SOA bible in the ongoing project." -Miro Vichev, CIO, DSK Bank, Bulgaria, member of OTP Group "Service-Oriented Architecture offers a pathway to networking of intra- and inter-corporate business systems. The standards have the potential to create far more flexible and resilient business information systems than have been possible in the past. This book is a must-read for those who care about the future of business IT." -Elizabeth Hackenson, CIO, MCI "Service-Oriented Architecture is key to help customers become on demand businesses-a business that can quickly respond to competitive threats and be first to take advantage of marketplace opportunities. SOA Compass is a must-read for those individuals looking to bridge the gap between IT and business in order to help their enterprises become more flexible and responsive." -Michael Liebow, Vice President, Web Services and Service-Oriented Architecture, IBM Business Consulting Services "This book is a welcome addition to SOA literature. It articulates the business case and provides practical proven real-world advice, guidance, tips, and techniques for organizations to make the evolution from simple point-to-point web services to true SOA by addressing such topics as planning, organization, analysis and design, security, and systems management." -Denis O'Sullivan, Fireman's Fund Enterprise Architect Maximize the business value and flexibility of your SOA deployment In this book, IBM Enterprise Integration Team experts present a start-to-finish guide to planning, implementing, and managing Service-Oriented Architecture. Excerpt: The Beatles Anthology is a documentary series on the career of The Beatles. It was broadcast on television in six abridged parts between November and December 1995. An eight volume VHS set and an 8 disc Laserdisc set were released on 5 September 1996. The series was re-released on DVD in 2003, with an 81-minute special-features disc. An official documentary on The Beatles career had been in the pipeline as far back as 1970. Long-time friend and Apple Corps manager Neil Aspinall had compiled footage from various sources around the world of concert, interview and television appearances. From this archival footage, Aspinall assembled a 90 minute feature film which was tentatively titled The Long and Winding Road and was completed in 1971. At this point, none of the former members had any involvement with the project and plans for its release lay dormant until 1980, when John Lennon stated as part of a legal deposition against the producers of the musical 'Beatlemania' that: "I and the other three former Beatles have plans to stage a reunion concert," an event to be filmed as a finale of The Long and Winding Road (which was now to be a television special). According to Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono the concert would have been held in England: "Just days before his brutal death, John was making plans to go to England for a triumphant Beatles reunion. His greatest dream was to recreate the musical magic of the early years with Paul, George and Ringo...(he) felt that they had travelled different paths for long enough. He felt they had grown up and were mature enough to try writing and recording new songs." The plans for a reunion were abandoned after Lennon was murdered on 8 December. In 1992 the project was once again resurrected, as a six part documentary series. This time, the surviving members (later to be dubbed in the press as 'The Threetles'), were directly involved, giving interviews on film with Jools Holland. Also interviewed were insiders Neil Aspinall, the band's pr
Graham Bonnet VINE HOUSE DISTRIBUTION

Graham Bonnet was born in Skegness in 1947 and had his first hit single with The Marbles in 1968, "Only One Woman" which reached Number 5 in the UK Singles Chart - So runs Graham Bonnet's wikipedia entry. Of The Skyliners, The Peter Tomlinson Band, The Jimmy Aldred Band, The Jan Ramsden Band, The Missing Links, The Blueset, The Bluesect and The Graham Bonnet Set not a word. This new biography of the much travelled rock singer more than fills the missing gaps. Author Steve Wright was the ideal person to put this exhaustive book together, running the singer's fanzine for many years and with unique access to Bonnet's own archive as well as friends and family. The result is an honest and detailed read which will fascinate anyone interested in Bonnet's career, as well as wanting to know more about the development of pop and rock in the UK during the immediate post-war years. And what a career it has been! From Skegness to Australia, saw his early success (and top five hits) with The Marbles, then returning with a well-regarded solo album in 1977 which saw Bonnet high in the Australian charts. This proved to be the spring-board for his rock career, with both The Sweet and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow keen to secure his services. Blackmore's offer was the more tempting, though following singer Ronnie James Dio in 1979 was a far from easy ride. "Mistreated was my audition song, because I didn't know any Rainbow songs!" Rainbow suddenly found themselves with well-crafted AOR chart hits in the shape of "Since You Been Gone" and "All Night Long". The band peaked at the first Donington Monsters Of Rock festival in 1980, but friction between Bonnet and Blackmore saw him leave the following year. A star-studded solo album followed, as well as a top ten single (Night Games), but Bonnet was quickly snapped up by the ex-UFO guitarist for the Michael Schenker Group (MSG) until he had one of his momentary lapses of reason: "I realized I had screwed up big time. They were so mad at me they almost got Gary to re-do the whole vocal tracks. So they took me down in the mix as punishment for my stupid behaviour." All will be revealed. Bonnet's most consistent rock project came in 1983 when he decided to put his own rock band together, and Alcatrazz became a huge draw on the rock circuit for the next four years, particularly in Japan. Now based in LA, the ever adaptable Bonnet continues to record and tour on a regular basis, with European shows during 2014. As for the biography, Bonnet has been sanguine about some of the wilder moments of his rock career. Taking the attitude that there is no point in airbrushing out events, he preferred them to remain within the context of a long and interesting career. Steve Wright's detailed research brings to print much even hardened fans will not have read about Bonnet's career, with plenty of rare photographs and memorabilia spread throughout the book.
