Lost History of the Little People DEEP BOOKS
Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna
All cultures haves stories of the First People, the "Old Ones," our prehistoric forebears who survived the Great Flood and initiated the first sacred traditions. From the squat "gods" of Mexico and Peru to the fairy kingdom of Europe to the blond pygmies of Madagascar, on every continent of the world they are remembered as masters of stone carving, agriculture, navigation, writing and shamanic healing-and as a "hobbit" people, no taller than 3 1/2 feet in height yet perfectly proportioned. Linking the high civilisations of the Pleistocene to the Golden Age of the Great Little People, Susan Martinez reveals how this lost race was forced from their original home on the island of Pan (known in myth as Mu or Lemuria) during the Great Flood of global legend. Following the mother language of Pan, Martinez uncovers the original unity of humankind in the common roots of key words and holy symbols, including the scarlet biretta of Catholic cardinals and shows how the Small Sacred Workers influenced the primitive tribes that they encountered in the post-flood diaspora, leading to the rise of civilisation. Examining the North American mound-culture sites, including the diminutive adult remains found there, she explains that these stately mounds were not burial sites but the sanctuaries and homes of the Little People. Drawing on the intriguing worldwide evidence of pygmy tunnels, dwarf villages, elf arrows and tiny coffins, Martinez reveals the Little People as the real missing link of prehistory, later sanctified and remembered as gods rather than the mortals they were. * Traces the common roots of key words and holy symbols, including the scarlet biretta of Catholic cardinals, back to the Little People * Explains how the mounds of North America and Ireland were not burial sites but the homes of the Little People * Includes the Tuatha De Danaan, the Hindu Sri Vede, the dwarf gods of Mexico and Peru, the Menehune of Hawaii, the Nunnehi of the Cherokee as well as African Pygmies and the Semang of Malaysia

Excerpt: Alan Oswald Moore (born 18 November 1953) is an English writer primarily known for his work in comic books, a medium where he has produced a number of critically acclaimed and popular series, including Watchmen, V for Vendetta, and From Hell. Frequently described as the best comic writer in history, he has also been described as "one of the most important British writers of the last fifty years". He has occasionally used such pseudonyms as Curt Vile, Jill de Ray, and Translucia Baboon. Moore started out writing for British underground and alternative fanzines in the late 1970s before achieving success publishing comic strips in such magazines as 2000AD and Warrior. He was subsequently picked up by the American DC Comics, and as "the first comics writer living in Britain to do prominent work in America", he worked on big name characters such as Batman (Batman: The Killing Joke) and Superman (Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?), substantially developed the minor character Swamp Thing, and penned original titles such as Watchmen. During that decade, Moore helped to bring about greater social respectability for the medium in the United States and United Kingdom, and has subsequently been attributed with the development of the term "graphic novel" over "comic book". In the late 1980s and early 1990s he left the comic industry mainstream and went independent for a while, working on experimental work such as the epic From Hell, pornographic Lost Girls, and the prose novel Voice of the Fire. He subsequently returned to the mainstream later in the 1990s, working for Image comics, before developing America's Best Comics, an imprint through which he published works such as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and the occult-based Promethea. Moore is also known as a Neopagan, occultist, and ceremonial magician, and has featured such themes in works including Promethea and From Hell, as well as performing avant-garde spoken word occult "workings" with The Moon and Serpen

Hopping from one dazzling Hawaiian island to the next - beginning on Oahu with Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, Diamond Head, North Shore, and more - Rita Ariyoshi takes visitors on a breathtaking journey through this plumeria-scented paradise, describing all the major sights-and lesser-known ones as well. Along with the fabled beach and its attendant hotels, you'll visit the spectacular Bishop Museum, and take a detour to the North Shore, known for its giant waves and surfing culture. Then it's on to Maui, where charming Lahaina harks back to whaling days; the magnificent Haleakala volcano promises an amazing sunrise experience; and the white-knuckle Hana Drive overlooks the sparkling sea as it winds past countryside right out of Old Hawaii. The Big Island is famous for its volcanoes - you can walk down to see an actual lava flow; as well as the waterfall-laced Hana Coast and the cowboys of the Waimea highlands. There's no prettier island than Kauai, the Garden Isle, and Ariyoshi makes sure that you don't miss the Bali Hai peaks of the North Shore, where you might wish to sip a cocktail as the sun sets; the fluted cliffs of the Na Pali coast; or the grandiose Waimea Canyon, interlaced with hiking trails. Undeveloped Molokai was once a leper's colony, and you can take a mule ride down to the tiny church where Father Damien once cared for the afflicted. Tiny Lanai was once the world's largest pineapple plantation, and is now a retreat for the rich and famous. Several in-depth features introduce you to special aspects of Hawaii, including detailed discussions on the hula, golfing in Hawaii, and the story of the lei. This completely updated guide takes you on a walk around historic Honolulu, as well as through historic Lahaina; and a drive around the geologically fascinating Crater Rim in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Sidebars on experiential travel reveal how to attend a luau like a local, zip-line on Kauai, and enjoy Hawaii's healing arts. The guide describes the history and culture of Hawaii, and is full of practical information, including how to get around the region, an extensive list of handpicked hotels and restaurants, and selective activities and entertainment options.
