Opis - Pierwsze na świecie świadectwo ofiary zbrodni honorowej. Miała siedemnaście lat i zakochała się: zhańbiła rodzinę. Więc rodzina wydała na nią wyrok śmierci... Pokochała go pierwszą miłością. Myślała, że się z nią ożeni. Ale ukochany zniknął, a ona odkryła, że jest w ciąży. A w jej świecie to najcięższa zbrodnia... Wyrok wydaje jej ojciec. Szwagier dokonuje egzekucji. Oblewa Souad benzyną i podpala... Planet Earth Wydawnictwo: Jonathan Cape

WYDAWNICTWA ALBUMOWE > Fotografia > Tematyczna > Natura

ISBN: 9780224069168 Autor: Praca zbiorowa     Rok wydania: 2002-10-24 Ilość stron: 244 Oprawa: miękka Format: 298 x 296 mm Once we used to watch space from Earth. Now we can watch the Earth from space. It is half a century since the first satellites beamed back their information. Space offers us a position from which we can look at ourselves and our ecosphere. We can record the transformation of our habitat - the drying of river estuaries, the disappearance of islands beneath the sea, the melting of polar icecaps. We can see the Earth as a single breathing entity. Planet Earth is a collection of astonishing satellite imagery that has been gathered by the German Space Centre in collaboration with space centres from Mexico to India and with its partners at NASA. The photographs have been made by machines in space, not by intrepid astronauts. The photographs have been processed through computers and can reveal more than is normally visible to the human eye - the floor of the ocean bed, geological strata and the eye of the hurricane. At first Planet Earth appears as a catalogue of the unfamiliar. Much of the information is astoundingly beautiful but unrecognisable. Gradually, as the captions are read, the data is translated, then the shapes and colours begin to become legible. The evidence of civilisations emerges - the Rock of Jerusalem, the Pyramids and the Coliseum. Planet Earth is the logical sequel to Full Moon, published by Jonathan Cape in 1999 on the thirtieth anniversary of the moon landing. Full Moon was the narrative of a journey to the Moon and a return to Earth. Planet Earth is an information bank. It has no narrative, only data. Planet Earth marks the arrival home.

Who Built the Moon? - 2854500510

Who Built the Moon? Watkins Pub Ltd

The authors of "Civilization One" return, bringing new evidence about the Moon that will shake up our world. Christopher Knight and Alan Butler realized that the ancient system of geometry they presented in their earlier, breakthrough study works as perfectly for the Moon as it does the Earth. They found a consistent sequence of integer numbers that they can apply to every major aspect of the Moon; no such pattern emerges for any other planet or moon in the solar system. In addition, Knight and Butler discovered that the Moon possesses few or no heavy metals and has no core--something that should not be possible. Their persuasive conclusion: if higher life only developed on Earth because the Moon is exactly "what" it is and "where" it is, it becomes unreasonable to cling to the idea that the Moon is a natural object--an idea with profound implications.

'Only with the greatest of simplifications, for the sake of convenience, can we say Africa. In reality, except as a geographical term, Africa doesn't exist'. Ryszard Kapuscinski has been writing about the people of Africa throughout his career. In a study that avoids the official routes, palaces and big politics, he sets out to create an account of post-colonial Africa seen at once as a whole and as a location that wholly defies generalised explanations. It is both a sustained meditation on the mosaic of peoples and practises we call 'Africa', and an impassioned attempt to come to terms with humanity itself as it struggles to escape from foreign domination, from the intoxications of freedom, from war and from politics as theft. The Beginning: Collision, Ghana 1958 More than anything, one is struck by the light. Light everywhere. Brightness everywhere. Everywhere, the sun. Just yesterday, an autumnal London was drenched in rain. The airplane drenched in rain. A cold, wind, darkness. But here, from the morning

Human Missions to Mars - 2854370806

Human Missions to Mars Springer, Berlin

The second edition of this book includes an annotated history of Mars mission studies and includes quantitative data wherever possible. Detailed appendices describe the availability of solar energy on the Moon and Mars, and the potential for utilizing indigenous water on Mars. This expanded and updated edition offers additional figures and tables and more than 70 new references.§§A mission to send humans to explore the surface of Mars has been the ultimate goal of planetary exploration since the 1950s, when von Braun envisaged flotilla of 10 interplanetary vessels carrying a crew of at least 70. Since then, more than 1,000 studies have been carried out on human missions to Mars, but after 60 years of research we remain in the early planning stages.§§Donald Rapp's view of human missions to Mars from an engineering perspective from the first edition has been retained. He divides the mission into a number of stages: Earth's surface to low-Earth orbit (LEO); departing from LEO toward Mars; Mars orbit insertion and entry, descent and landing; ascent from Mars; trans-Earth injection from Mars orbit and Earth return. For each segment, he analyzes requirements for candidate technologies. In this context, he discusses the status and potential of a wide range of elements critical to a human Mars mission, including life support consumables, radiation effects and shielding, microgravity effects, abort options and mission safety, possible habitats on the Martian surface and aero-assisted orbit entry, decent and landing. For any human mission to the Red Planet, the possible utilization of any resources indigenous to Mars would be of great value and as such is discussed at length. He also discusses the relationship between lunar and Mars exploration.§

With the recent declarations of intent by spacefaring nations to return to the Moon and to send sample return missions to Mars, this self-contained and comprehensive book will be most timely. It will include a case study - the ExoMars Rover - to which both authors have contributed for the European Space Agency. The highly successful US Mars Exploration Rover programme, in which Lutz Richter was involved, will also be covered. §To the authors' knowledge, this unique book will be the only one that covers the space, automotive and robotics technologies specifically geared to the development and design of planetary rovers and the associated problems of locomotion and navigation. §The book will open with an introduction to the use of robotic rovers for planetary exploration and their relationship to other terrestrial applications, including oceanography. The terrain in particular, in planetary environment, is a major design driver for the planetary rover and therefore a review of each planet and small bodies of the solar system and their impact on rover design is provided. Mars is the best known example for the NASA follow the water strategy in astrobiology research and is the most likely planet to be explored in the near term.§Planetary missions are designed with a different engineering philosophy than Earth-orbiting missions. There are great uncertainties about the operational environment, new scientific instruments, and the requirement for new spacecraft and robotic technologies to make them economically feasible. These include rover design, locomotion, autonomous navigation, rover avionics, mission communications architecture and power generation and thermal control. The authors conclude by speculating on the need for the manned astrobiological investigation of Mars in terms of near-term evolution of robotic terminology and how robotic rovers can support manned mission by relieving the astronaut/cosmonaut workload.§In addition, the future of robotic astrobiology missions will be explored with the implementation of biomimetic robots which attempt to utilise biological solutions to engineering problems. Finally, Nanotechnology and its limitations in the miniaturisation of actuation systems will be covered.
