Guitar Hero 4 jest kolejną grą muzyczną, należącą do popularnej serii. Tym razem zabawa skupia się nie tylko na gitarach, gdyż można wcielić się także w perkusistę i wokalistę. Wykorzystuje się więc większą ilość kontrolerów, wzorowanych na prawdziwych instrumentach. Oprócz nowej wersji gitary elektrycznej i basowej mamy do dyspozycji także mikrofon oraz perkusję. Ponadto twórcy postanowili wprowadzić też jeszcze jeden, łatwiejszy poziom trudności (Easy Rhythm), z którym żadnego problemu nie powinni mieć nawet najwięksi laicy. Pewnym modyfikacjom uległ tryb kariery - teraz podróżujemy po świecie i odbywamy koncerty. W dodatku jeżeli po drodze okazuje się, że uprzednio wybrany stopień trudności jest zbyt wysoki, to można zmienić go bez potrzeby restartu całej kariery. Karierę realizuje się w pojedynkę lub wraz z maksymalnie trzema innymi osobami, z których każda obejmuje inną rolę w zespole. Bez zmian pozostały natomiast, znane z Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, walki z bossami. Kolejną z nowości jest możliwość tworzenia własnych utworów (z wyłączeniem ścieżki wokalnej) przy pomocy opcji Advanced Studio lub modyfikowania istniejących kawałków w trybie Jam Over. Istnieje też opcja dowolnej ingerencji w charakterystyki członków naszego zespołu (począwszy od wieku, a skończywszy na tatuażach i makijażu). To samo tyczy się również instrumentów. Zumba Fitness World Party to pierwsza odsłona niesamowicie popularnej serii gier typu fitness, która zabiera wszystkich chętnych w podróż dookoła świata. Produkcją zajęło się studio Zoe Mode, które stworzyło dodatkowe zestawy utworów do gier z serii Guitar Hero. Pracowali także przy kilku projektach sygnowanych marką EyeToy.

Twórcy wprowadzili do gry wiele nowych ćwiczeń i elementów. Jedną z najważniejszych nowinek jest dodanie do zabawy około 40 utworów muzycznych od takich wykonawców jak: Lady Gaga, Daddy Yankee czy Pitbull. To jednak nie koniec, gdyż zatroszczono się o regionalne dźwięki pochodzące z różnych zakątków globu. W rytm muzyki gracze wykonują ćwiczenia i tańczą, wykorzystując i ucząc się wielu różnych styli (ponad 30), wśród których można znaleźć: salsę, hip-hop, reggaeton i blues.

Rozgrywka odbywa się w kilku trybach. Do dyspozycji grających osób oddano między innymi World Dance Tour, w którym podróżuje się po całym świecie, poznaje liczne kultury, regionalną muzykę i style tańca. Oprócz tego można się uczyć w ramach Learn the Steps, bawić się tylko do wybranych piosenek, albo wziąć udział w Full Class, które oferuje kilka programów pozwalających spalać zbędne kalorie. Wszystkie postępy są zapisywane w Progress Tracker Plus. Można więc w każdej chwili sprawdzić ile czasu spędziliśmy przy danym ćwiczeniu, jakie osiągnięcia udało się zdobyć, itd.

Całość nadzorują wirtualni trenerzy, którzy reprezentują poszczególne kultury. Wśród nich znajdziemy między innymi: Beto, Ginę Grant, Melissę Chiz, Heidy Torres, Lorettę Bates, Nicka Logrea, Armando Salcedo, Priscillę Sartori, czy Petera Wanga.
