Are you ready to open your imagination to the possibility that God has a vision for your life that is "greater"?We all have honest moments when we're gripped by a desire to feel that what we're doing matters more. That who we "are" matters more. And according to one of the most shocking verses in the Bible, Jesus wants the very same thing for "every one "of us: "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater thingsthan these, because I am going to the Father." -John 14:12That single promise--"even greater things than these"--should be enough to shatter our acceptance of spiritual mediocrity. Unfortunately, most believers have only tried and given up on vague notions of "greatness..."then settled into a life that's just "good enough."Good enough = Baseline living that is marked by mediocrity, stuck in spiritual survival mode, and controlled by complacency.Greatness = Vague, unrealistic aspirations of doing better that don't work in real life and lead to endless frustration. But there is a third way.Greater = The life-altering understanding that God is ready to accomplish a greatness in your life that is entirely out of human reach--beyond anything you see in yourself on your best day, but exactly what God has seen in you all along. In "Greater, "Pastor Steven Furtick draws on the biblical story of Elisha to empower you to: - Take a God-given dream from idea to reality - Stretch your limited resources and abilities in ways you never thought possible - Replace the images of yourself that keep you feeling stuck in the past - Make a significant impact with your life starting today, rather than making endless plans for tomorrow that you never get around to If you're tired of being ordinary, it's time to dream bigger. If you're feeling overwhelmed about where to begin, it's time to start smaller. It's time to ignite God's "Greater" vision for your life.

Opis - The Jubilee Year of Mercy, announced by Pope Francis, is a great time for our common reflection on how we live our Christian lives in the special context of the Works of Mercy. This call to the Works of Mercy can be properly understood not only as charity in terms of material deeds and works, but more deeply in the spiritual sense of the Works of Mercy, especially in the different aspects of education and spiritual growth as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church as the Spiritual Works of Mercy. Every step of any Work of Mercy reminds us that God is first rich in mercy. It should be our response to the call of the Gospel to follow our Lord Jesus Christ and imitate Him in His great Works of Mercy, both Corporal and Spiritual. Christian Beginnings Penguin Books

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

Geza Vermes, translator and editor of "The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls" and worldwide expert on the life and times of Jesus, tells the enthralling story of early Christianity and the origins of a religion. The creation of the Christian Church is one of the most important stories in the development of the world's history, yet one of the least understood. With a forensic, brilliant re-examination of all the key surviving texts of early Christianity, Geza Vermes illuminates the origins of a faith and traces the evolution of the figure of Jesus from the man he was - a prophet in the tradition of other Jewish holy men of the Old Testament - to what he came to represent: a mysterious, otherworldly being at the heart of the official state religion of the Roman Empire. "Christian Beginnings" pulls apart myths and misunderstandings to focus on the true figure of Jesus, and the birth of one of the world's major religions. Reviews: "A beautiful and magisterial book". (Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, "Guardian"). "An exciting and challenging port of call, sweeping aside much of the fuzzy thinking and special pleading that bedevils the study of sacred scripture ...courteously expressed and witty". (Diarmaid MacCulloch, "The Times"). "A challenging and engaging book that sets out to retrace the route by which a Jewish preacher in 1st-century Israel came to be declared as consubstantial and co-equal with the omnipotent, omniscient only God". (Stuart Kelly, "Scotsman"). "A major contribution to our understanding of the historical Jesus". ("Financial Times"). "A very accessible and entertaining read". ("Scotland on Sunday" Books of the Year). "A magnum opus of early Christian history and one of the year's most significant titles". ("Bookseller").

Apophatic Anthropology Gorgias Press

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

The project of an Apophatic Anthropology (1952) was one of the most significant philosophical concerns of AndrÚ Scrima. Pascalian in essence, the approach departs from the Augustinian roots of Western Christian theology and develops a Christian anthropology based on Eastern Orthodoxy. The endeavor of a human being to understand oneself does not lead, as in the case of Pascal, to identification with Jesus Christ's suffering, but further, to an attempt of deification, theosis, in which the main concept is Incarnation. This attempt opens to man the possibility to conceive himself as interior to God. Man becomes therefore the physical and metaphysical bridge between creation and the uncreated, the only creature that bears the image of God. His mysterious inner being thus forms his unity that is transcendent to nature. Scrima's perspective is nourished by the great sources of Eastern spirituality, from Gregory of Nyssa to Maximus the Confessor. Here, philosophy becomes a chapter of Christology. Scrima believed that, by conceiving the person of the Savior, all problems of human nature and human thought have already been asked. In having both divine and human nature, Christ is the paradigm for any human person. The two natures of Christ which, according to the Council of Chalcedon, are unmixed, unchanged, undivided, and inseparable, represent also the encounter between uncreated grace and human nature in the depths of a deified being. An apophatic anthropology is deeply connected with the trials of the modern world. Scrima considers ontological theocentrism to be the only philosophical attitude that is capable to render the dynamic and fertile element of mystery to a human being. This perspective restores a man in the anagogical tension of profound knowledge and brings him back home. Scrima believes also that ignoring this mystery leads to the tragedy of "losing" the image of God in us, which ends in the separation of the paradoxical unity that is essential to any creature.

Andrew Francis - Oikos Cascade Books

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

How you spend your time and money controls what happens on this planet . . . Planet Earth and its people are in danger. We face ongoing economic and ecological crises. These will deepen unless all of God's people begin to act as one global community. Natural resources are diminishing and the economic world order is changing. We cannot go on living as though we can call up another planet. Change is needed now and this book addresses that. á The biblical vision of the world as oikos, meaning household, is God's challenge to all people about the way we live now--and in the future. Oikos affirms the need for reconciliation and peace between faiths and nations and should determine our economic practices and how we care for the planet. á In this timely and challenging book is a renewed call to follow the Maker's instructions. Whether it is 9/11, Chernobyl, or the 2008 financial crash, that call for change is repeating itself. This book not only explains why we need to change but also provides practical advocacy of how you can help to achieve it. ""More than ever, the world today needs a liberation theology that liberates theology itself from the knots in which it has been tied by human history. In Oikos, Andrew Francis contributes to such an approach. He does so in a manner that is unusually well integrated across the triune fields of social, environmental, and religious life that constitute the 'eco,' or neighborhood, that is our human home."" --Alastair McIntosh, author of Soil and Soul and Poacher's Pilgrimage ""Andrew Francis challenges us to consider what it means to live authentically as members of God's beautiful household--loving every member of our extended family and caring for our precious dwelling place. He helps us envision a divinely inspired economy, ecology, and ecumeny. How can we find this pearl of great value? This book provides a map that shows the way. This is Andrew Francis's generous gift to us."" --Stuart Masters, Senior Programme Leader, Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre, UK Andrew Francis is a UK-based writer, poet, and community theologian who leads courses and retreats. A former artist, potter, and pastor, he speaks at conferences, festivals, and to congregations, and is a community gardener and joyful cook. He is the author of What in God's Name are You Eating? (2014) and Shalom: the Jesus Manifesto (2016).

Sacred Sexual Union Inner Traditions Bear and Company

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

In these sacred unions we recognise the merging not only of Twin Souls, but, also, of these lovers with the Divine. Anaiya Sophia shows this Holy Marriage, complete reunification with your Twin Soul and God, is not a secret reserved for the initiated or a tradition lost to the ages. It is a potent, living spiritual path enabling two beloveds to experience the primordial state of creation as one soul blessed by the Divine Light and Love of their Creator. The author reveals the complete alchemical process of Sacred Union. She provides physical, meditative and psychological practices that combine sacred sexuality, emotional intimacy and transparent soul awareness to awaken the magnetic energies of your soul, draw your Twin Soul to you and, with Twin Souls reunited, experience the passionate rapturous remembrance of becoming one with God. She explores ancient writings and rituals of Sacred Union - known as Hieros Gamos in ancient Sumeria, Sacred Marriage in the Kabbalah, Yab Yum in Tibetan Buddhism and the Bridal Chamber in Gnostic Christianity - and offers examples of Sacred Union throughout the ages, including experiences from her own spiritual journey. More than a meditative or yogic practice, SACRED SEXUAL UNION offers a transformative spiritual path to embrace the threefold flame of power, love and wisdom and satisfy your soul's longing for wholeness and reunion with the Divine. * Includes practices in sacred sexuality, emotional intimacy and soul awareness to awaken the love, power and wisdom of your soul, attract your Twin Soul and satisfy your soul's longing to reunite with God * Draws on teachings from Gnosticism, Sufi mysticism, the Kabbalah, Kundalini yoga, sexual shamanism, the Egyptian Mystery schools and Christ Consciousness * Offers examples of Sacred Union, including Jesus and Mary Magdalene and Rumi and Shams as well as experiences of modern couples

Lucifer Revival Waves of Glory Ministries

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

Lucifer's name is mentioned only once in scripture, yet, he remains a powerful evil influence over the world. This has been the case from the time of Adam and Eve to today and will remain so until final judgment is executed upon the Earth. What is Lucifer's ultimate goal? How can we fight such a daunting adversary when angels themselves, with their supernatural strength, dare not contend with him? Furthermore, since the Bible tells us that Lucifer is the god of this world, what kind of merchandise does he use in tempting us to sin? The scripture is clear in its description of who he is and what he intends. Being the fallible beings that we are, how can we resist the evil temptations that can draw us away from the True God of heaven who is the Creator of all things? It is God. Who separated the light from the darkness, according to Genesis chapter one, and it is He who separates good and evil through His living Word, Jesus Christ; therefore, it's in Him alone that we have hope and salvation, not in Lucifer, nor in ourselves. This work is intended to reveal who Lucifer, our great adversary, really is, his attributes, merchandise, and his goals. But, foremost, through this work, the true King of Kings and Lord of Lords will also be revealed.

Lightning and the Sun Counter-Currents Publishing

The Lightning and the Sun is Savitri Devi's magnum opus and one of the founding texts of post-World War II National Socialism. Written in Europe from 1948 to 1956 and published in India in 1958, The Lightning and the Sun sets forth a unique and stunning synthesis of National Socialism with the cyclical Traditionalist philosophy of history and Hindu mythology. Savitri Devi's goal was to create a new National Socialist religion. She aspired to be the Saint Paul to Hitler's Jesus. Paul of Tarsus took Jesus, who was a religious prophet and a failed political revolutionary, and turned him into a divine incarnation, creating a religion which served as the vehicle for the triumph of Jewish values over Rome. Savitri Devi sought to transform Adolf Hitler, who was also both a prophetic figure and a failed political revolutionary, into a divine incarnation-an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu-hoping to create a religion that would serve as the vehicle for the triumph of National Socialism over egalitarian modernity. In spite of its near-legendary status, The Lightning and the Sun is a notoriously hard to find book. The first edition consisted of only 1,000 copies and is quite rare. The 1979 Samisdat reprint is long out of print and also quite rare. The most readily available edition is William Pierce's dramatically abridged version, which cuts two thirds of the text and was not authorized or checked by Savitri Devi. The Savitri Devi Archive's new edition of The Lightning and the Sun reprints the complete and unabridged first edition and corrects its many typographical errors. It also updates the citations, adds a number of explanatory notes, includes a helpful Editor's Foreword, and provides a detailed index. With this new edition, which is edited and manufactured to the highest academic press standards, The Lightning and the Sun has finally found a worthy embodiment. About the Authoress Savitri Devi (1905-1982) is one of the most original and influential National Socialist thinkers of the post-World War II era. Born Maximine Julia Portaz in Lyons, France, she was of English, Greek, and Italian ancestry and described her national

Jesus Christ did not die on the cross so you and I could have a nice day. Ministers and teachers who water down the gospel of Christ in order to make it more popular and appealing may be leading their fun-loving audiences down the road to eternal punishment. This book is John MacArthur's unflinching, unapologetic treatise on the modern tendency to alter the true message of Christianity in order to meet the whims and desires of a culture hoping for nonconfrontational messages, easy answers, and superficial commitments. Too many people just want a Madison Avenue Jesus to make them well, make them happy, and make them prosperous. But Jesus Christ isn't a personal genie. He is the Savior. He died in agony to satisfy the wrath of a holy God and to forgive the sins of humankind. Faith in Him demands a willingness to make any sacrifice He asks. The hard truth about Christianity is that the cost is high, but the rewards are priceless: abundant and eternal life that comes only from faithfully follwing Christ.

Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World [Two Volumes In One] Martino Fine Books

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

2014 Reprint of Original 1907 Edition [Two Volumes in One]. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Massey was one of the first Egyptologists in modern times to suggest that with the final eclipse of the old Land of Kam [a.k.a. ancient Egypt], a brilliant light had been extinguished in world civilization. There was a small compensation in the often meteoric rise of other cultures subsequently, but the luminance of these later cultures was, Massey suggests, a paler reflection of the Nile Valley sun that had set. In this, the most philosophical of his works on ancient Egypt, Massey leads a tour through thousands of years of sociological, cultural, and spiritual development, all the while pointing, with dazzling reason and persuasive prose, to a distant, common, Egyptian origin. In the first volume Massey was primarily interested in elaborating how the first humans emerging in Africa created thought. What had been evident to him from the outset was that the myths, rituals and religion of ancient Egypt--or Old Kam--had preserved virtually intact a record of the psycho-mythic evolution of humanity. In the second volume Massey examines the celestial phenomenon known as the Precession of the Equinoxes. He believed that only by understanding this phenomenon was it possible to fathom Nile Valley history. The last half of the second volume is devoted to the Kamite sources of Christianity. Massey sought to demonstrate the manner in which New Testament Christianity evolved directly out of Osirian mysteries. One of the more important aspects of Massey's writings were his assertions that there were parallels between Jesus and the Egyptian god Horus. Massey, for example, argued that: both Horus and Jesus were born of virgins on 25 December, raised men from the dead (Massey speculates that the biblical Lazarus, raised from the dead by Jesus, has a parallel in El-Asar-Us, a title of Osiris), died by crucifixion and were resurrected three days later. These assertions have influenced various later writers such as Alvin Boyd Kuhn, Tom Harpur, Yosef Ben-Jochannan, and D.M. Murdock.

Revisiting the Corruption of the New Testament Kregel Publications,U.S.

Ksi▒┐ki / Literatura obcojŕzyczna

is the inaugural volume of The Text and Canon of the New Testament series, edited by Daniel B. Wallace. This first volume focuses on issues in textual criticism; in particular, to what degree did the scribes, who copied their exemplars by hand, corrupt the autographs? All but one of the chapters deals specifically with New Testament textual criticism. The other addresses textual issues related to an early apocryphal work, the "Gospel of Thomas." The book begins with the full transcription of Wallace's presentation at the Fourth Annual Greer-Heard Forum, in which he and Bart Ehrman debated over the reliability of the New Testament manuscripts. Adam Messer looks at the patristic evidence of "nor the Son" in Matthew 24:36 in a quest to determine whether the excision of these words was influenced by orthodox Fathers. Philip Miller wrestles with whether the least orthodox reading should be a valid principle for determining the autographic text. Matthew Morgan focuses attention on the only two Greek manuscripts that have a potentially Sabellian reading in John 1:1c. Timothy Ricchuiti tackles the textual history of the Gospel of Thomas," examining the Coptic text and the three Greek fragments, using internal evidence in order to determine the earliest stratum of "Thomas." Brian Wright thoroughly examines the textual reliability of the passages in which Jesus appears to be called God, concluding that the textual proof of the designation "theos" as applied to Jesus in the NT merely confirms what other grounds have already established. "Revisiting the Corruption of the New Testament "will be a valuable resource for those working in textual criticism, early Christianity, New Testament apocrypha, and patristics.

Containing the Didache in English and Greek, The "Q" (Source) Document, and the Book of James. What form did Christianity take in the first thirty years? Before the Jewish Christians were slaughtered by Rome and before the emergence of the Pauline sect, while the faith was still under the guiding hand of James, the brother of Jesus, what did the pure and unaltered church look like? By examining the Didache, the "Q" document, and the book of James we will look back into the first years of the faith. The difference between the beliefs of the apostles and modern Christianity will astonish you. The Didache is a manual written by the early Christians, a break away sect of Judaism, instructing converts on how to be Christians and how to conduct themselves in daily life. It is a magnificent view of the beliefs and rituals of the earliest form of Christianity as propagated by those who knew Jesus best; his brother and the original apostles. By the time of the Roman massacre of the Jews (66 C.E. - 70 C.E.) there were three major division in early Christianity: the original Jewish Christians, the gnostic Christians, and the quickly growing Pauline sect that was breaking away from its more formal Jewish roots. There was a one in three chance of the Pauline sect becoming the template of the Christianity of today. Had the war between the Romans and Jews not happened or had Paul failed to convert enough gentiles to his sect to outnumber those who followed James we could have a Messianic-Jewish based Christianity today. Our canon and our worship would be different, but because it would have been accepted, orthodox, and traditional, Christians would follow it as they follow the Pauline sect now. It is only by chance, or by the hand of god that the Didache is not the main document of catechism in the church today.
