Handbook of Modern Sensors - 2866658551

883,15 zł

Handbook of Modern Sensors Springer International Publishing AG

Książki / Literatura obcojęzyczna

This book presents a comprehensive and up-to-date account of the theory (physical principles), design, and practical implementations of various sensors for scientific, industrial and consumer applications. This latest edition focuses on the sensing technologies driven by the expanding use of sensors in mobile devices. These new miniature sensors will be described, with an emphasis on smart sensors which have embedded processing systems. The chapter on chemical sensors has also been expanded to present the latest developments.§§Digital systems, however complex and intelligent they may be, must receive information from the outside world that is generally analog and not electrical. Sensors are interface devices between various physical values and the electronic circuits that "understand" only a language of moving electrical charges. In other words, sensors are the eyes, ears, and noses of silicon chips.§§Unlike other books on sensors, the Handbook of Modern Sensors is organized according to the measured variables (temperature, pressure, position, etc.). This book is a reference text for students, researchers interested in modern instrumentation (applied physicists and engineers), sensor designers, application engineers and technicians whose job it is to understand, select and/or design sensors for practical systems.§

"Digital Design and Computer Architecture" takes a unique and modern approach to digital design. Beginning with digital logic gates and progressing to the design of combinational and sequential circuits, Harris and Harris use these fundamental building blocks as the basis for what follows: the design of an actual MIPS processor. SystemVerilog and VHDL are integrated throughout the text in examples illustrating the methods and techniques for CAD-based circuit design. By the end of this book, readers will be able to build their own microprocessor and will have a top-to-bottom understanding of how it works. Harris and Harris have combined an engaging and humorous writing style with an updated and hands-on approach to digital design. This second edition has been updated with new content on I/O systems in the context of general purpose processors found in a PC as well as microcontrollers found almost everywhere. The new edition provides practical examples of how to interface with peripherals using RS232, SPI, motor control, interrupts, wireless, and analog-to-digital conversion. High-level descriptions of I/O interfaces found in PCs include USB, SDRAM, WiFi, PCI Express, and others. In addition to expanded and updated material throughout, SystemVerilog is now featured in the programming and code examples (replacing Verilog), alongside VHDL. This new edition also provides additional exercises and a new appendix on C programming to strengthen the connection between programming and processor architecture. It covers the fundamentals of digital logic design and reinforces logic concepts through the design of a MIPS microprocessor. It features side-by-side examples of the two most prominent Hardware Description Languages (HDLs)-SystemVerilog and VHDL - which illustrate and compare the ways each can be used in the design of digital systems. It includes examples throughout the text that enhance the reader's understanding and retention of key concepts and techniques. Companion Web site includes links to CAD tools for FPGA design from Altera and Mentor Graphics, lecture slides, laboratory projects, and solutions to exercises. Electromagnetic Analysis of Shielde Microwave Structures. The Surface Integral Equation Approach Politechnika Wrocławska

FIZYKA

Electromagnetic analysis, and especially computational electromagnetics, plays a fundamental role in contemporary electrical engineering. It proved to be very useful in solving a wide variety of practical problems emerging in advanced applications of modern communication systems. This monograph addresses key issues involved in the surface integral equation-method of moment (IE-MoM) formulation, which is suitable for very efficient and reliable analysis of radiation and scattering problems related to conducting and dielectric bodies, and in particular, multilayer microstrip passive circuits and antennas. The IE-MoM method proved also to be very efficient in the analysis of shielded microwave structures embedded in a planarly layered medium, and this particular application of the IE-MoM approach constitutes the core subject of this monograph. The content of the monograph is arranged so that the main stress is put on the ideas and not on the rigorous explanation of the theory involved in the IE-MoM formulation. The intention behind such an arrangement is to present the material in a way that allows the reader to understand easily all the ideas and principles of the applied electromagnetic theory and to encourage non-advanced readers to study computational electromagnetics. The monograph is also intended to serve as a reference material for those who will decide to pursue a detailed study in this field. Computer technology is pervasive in the modern world, its role ever more important as it becomes embedded in a myriad of physical systems and disciplinary ways of thinking. The late Michael Sean Mahoney was a pioneer scholar of the history of computing, one of the first established historians of science to take seriously the challenges and opportunities posed by information technology to our understanding of the twentieth century. Mahoney's work ranged widely, from logic and the theory of computation to the development of software and applications as craft-work. But it was always informed by a unique perspective derived from his distinguished work on the history of medieval mathematics and experimental practice during the Scientific Revolution. His writings offered a new angle on very recent events and ideas and bridged the gaps between academic historians and computer scientists. Indeed, he came to believe that the field was irreducibly pluralistic and that there could be only histories of computing. In this collection, Thomas Haigh presents thirteen of Mahoney's essays and papers organized across three categories: historiography, software engineering, and theoretical computer science. His introduction surveys Mahoney's work to trace the development of key themes, illuminate connections among different areas of his research, and put his contributions into context. The volume also includes an essay on Mahoney by his former students Jed Z. Buchwald and D. Graham Burnett. The result is a landmark work, of interest to computer professionals as well as historians of technology and science.
